A meeting place for those who think about climate change and those who experience its impacts at work
Held in November 2024 in São Paulo, the meeting brought together union leaders, researchers, experts, and workers from different sectors to build bridges between the climate field and the world of work—agendas that have historically been separate but now need to connect.
The initiative, in partnership with DIEESE and ClimaInfo, stemmed from a simple observation: talking about work is a way of bringing the climate crisis into everyday life. Employment, income, and dignity are part of the climate debate, just as the climate emergency needs to be at the center of labor agendas.
The roundtables addressed topics such as the future of oil and gas, the challenges of renewable energy, the electrification of transport, informality, youth, and the impacts of extreme events on workers. The meeting resulted in a publication with articles from participants from different sectors and regions of Brazil.
The Dialogues reinforce a central premise of Aurora Lab: building alliances between climate and work is essential to facing the challenges of the present and imagining fairer futures.
